Hello and welcome to my website!

My name is Klaas Stoppels and I was born in 1956 in a little place called Godlinze in the province Groningen in the Netherlands. The biggest part of my life (until now) I spent in The Haque, the Dutch parliament city. My biggest hobby was video filming and editing. I had my own small studio at home. You could find me on the street with my video camera or in my studio.

During my holidays I frequently traveled to Bali, Indonesia. I had traveled already a lot but this island of Demons and Gods became one of my most favorite places in the world. By the end of 2000 I took the decision to move to Indonesia. Spending my time on Bali and Java made me realize that time after time I saw the most beautiful landscapes and human interests and I did nothing with it. I had sold all my video equipment before I went to Indonesia. Because one of my best friends was addicted to his Canon 1D camera I bought myself also some photo gear (thanks Bob). It started with a small camera but after a month or 3 I already knew that this was the hobby that fitted me. And very soon I bought more professional gear. In all ways I had to try to find information about photography, i was still a new-bie and knew nothing about it except that you never should take your photo’s with the “automatic pilot” turned on.
Besides reading a lot “on-line” I also joined some clubs like HSB, the biggest and oldest Photo Club in Solo, Central Java. There was also the Jakarta Photo Club with a very active web site. They have as motto: “Learn and Share”. Here I learned the most. Not only by receiving comments on my photo’s but also by giving comments to the photo’s of other members. It forced me to evaluate photo’s of other members and see what went wrong or what was perfect.

Nowadays people already start contacting me for buying one or more of my photo’s. Some to be used for calendars, some for private purpose or even to be hanged in restaurants. I made several family shots on location as well as product and factory promotions. It is nice if you can make some money from your hobby but for me it is still a hobby with a lot of fun... and it keeps me feel young because I am on the move all the time.
